WHO IS THE COURSE SUITABLE FOR?
This course is ideal for entry level into the renewable energy sector, particularly on or offshore windfarms; this forms part of the mandatory requirements for working on a windfarm and includes the following:
GWO First Aid
GWO Working at Height & Manual Handling
GWO Sea Survival
GWO Fire Awareness
COURSE OVERVIEW
These courses will provide the necessary knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training to ensure a person is able to work safely on a windfarm.
AT THE END OF THIS COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO;
WORKING AT HEIGHT & MANUAL HANDLING
Demonstrate the importance of following procedures and regulations whilst working at height in hazardous environments
Demonstrate sufficient rescue techniques and procedures that are required in emergency situations
Identify and inspect the correct equipment
Ensure the safety of self and others.
Evacuate safely and the use of evacuation devices.
Understand the importance of carrying out Manual Handling work duties in a safe and sound manner in accordance to with legislative requirements of your work location
Demonstrate understanding of safe practices of manual handling this includes the correct handling of equipment
Identify signs and symptoms of injuries related to poor manual handling and able to report it correctly.
Demonstrate a problem-solving approach to Manual Handling in wind turbine environment
Demonstrate Manual Handling risk reduction techniques.
FIRST AID
Have achieved skills and basic knowledge in understanding the importance of carrying out first aid:
Identify risks and hazards and carry out the necessary first aid in regards to minor or serious injuries
Provide knowledge of safety awareness in an emergency
Correctly use an automatic external defibrillator as well as the correct use of first aid equipment.
SEA SURVIVAL
Demonstrate knowledge of dangers and symptoms related to hypothermia and drowning
Understand the limitations of different life-saving appliances (LSA), personal protective equipment (PPE) and personal fall protection Equipment (PFPE) used in the offshore wind industry
Demonstrate knowledge of risks related to transfers
Demonstrate safe transfer and evacuation of a WTG
Have knowledge of search and rescue (SAR) and global maritime distress and safety systems (GMDSS)
Give first aid treatment to a “man overboard”
Demonstrate individual and group survival techniques at sea.
FIRE AWARENESS
Demonstrate knowledge of the development and spread of fire
Demonstrate knowledge of the development and spread of fire
Identify any sign of a fire in a wind turbine environment
Demonstrate knowledge of the contingency plans in a wind turbine environment including smoke detection and emergency escape procedures.
Demonstrate correct actions on discovering a fire including correct operation and fire extinguishing by means of the firefighting equipment in a WTG.

Course cancellations fees as follows, include bad weather travel disruption:
8+ days notice of course date – a full refund is given minus administration fee of £30+vat per course booking
7 days or less notice of course date – a refund is not available.
Course postponement fees for any reason, including bad weather travel disruption, as follows:
8+ days notice of course start date – Course may be postponed upon payment of admin fee of £36 incl. VAT.
7 days or below notice of course start date – postponement is not available.
Any courses which have been postponed are not eligible for a future refund.
Non-Completion of course
If a delegate does not complete the course, then a refund is not available and certificate will not be issued.
